( KMZA )- The hours of operation at the Bern Post office will be cut in half.

Sheik says the Postal Service plans to reduce the weekday customer service hours from 8 hours per day to 4. There would be no change on Saturdays.
The Postal Service hasn't announced yet what the new hours of operation will be.
The Bern Post Office is currently open from 7:30 to 12:30 and from 1:30 to 4:30 Monday through Friday. In addition, it's open Saturday morning's from 7:30 to 9:15.
The reduction in hours could take effect in 30 days.

Among those on hand for the meeting were State Senator Dennis Pyle, State Representative Randy Garber and a representative from the office of Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins.
The Postal Service announced last year it would cut hours at 13-thousand post offices nationwide—including 362 in Kansas. The move is expected to save the service a half-million dollars a year.
