(KNZA)--The new year begins for the Kansas Legislature January 14th, with lawmakers across the state set to convene at the Statehouse in Topeka.
A key issue will be the state budget, and the approach Governor Sam Brownback wants to take with handling that matter.
Included will be public education funding, and what ideas will win out when it comes to addressing that high profile issue.
Democratic State Representative Jerry Henry, of Cummings, says it's a tricky situation, based on the wide differences of need between school districts even when located close to one another(Play Audio)
Join us Wednesday as we talk in depth with Representative Henry about the approaching Legislative session during More Than Just a Soundbite, our weekly public affairs program, airing at 6:15 Wednesday morning and again that afternoon at 1:05.
Although the 2013 session begins January 14th, the traditional, official start will come after the Governor delivers his State of the State Address.
That will happen at 6:30 the following evening at the Statehouse.
