(KNZA)--A lengthy traffic back-up on U.S. Highway 36 during the early evening Wednesday following a double vehicle Doniphan County crash, east of Troy, that left two injured.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says it happened when an eastbound pick-up truck on U.S. 36, driven by 45-year-old Troy resident Jay Cluck, was slowing down to turn left onto Ottumwa Road.  As Cluck attempted the turn, his truck was struck in the rear by another eastbound pick-up, driven by 50-year-old Saint Joseph, Missouri resident Jerry Stewart. The impact forced both vehicles off the roadway, with both stopping on the north side of the highway.

Although both drivers were wearing seat belts, they suffered injuries, with both men transported for treatment at Saint Joseph's Heartland Regional Medical Center.

The wreck, occurring 1 ½ miles east of Troy, happened around 5:20 in the evening.
