Former Sabetha Police Officer Pleads Guilty to Drug Charge
( KMZA )-A former Sabetha police officer has pleaded guilty to a felony charge of distribution of methamphetamine.
Ryan Bruggeman entered the plea today (Wednesday ) in Nemaha County District Court as part of a plea agreement.
In exchange for the plea, prosecutors from the Kansas Attorney General's office dismissed a felony charge of official misconduct.
District Judge John Weingart set sentencing for January 18th.
Bruggeman was arrested in May following an investigation by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
According to court documents, Bruggeman committed the crime on December 19th, 2010. The report's wording indicates the meth was taken from police evidence.
Bruggeman was an officer with the Sabetha Police Department from June 2009 through April of last year.
He remains free on bond.
