AT&T Upgrades Local Wireless Network

( KNZA )- As part of its continuing network investment to support growing demand for advanced mobile devices and applications, AT&T has announced upgrades to 13 wireless internet cell sites in northeast Kansas...( play audio )

Steve Hahn, president of AT&T Kansas, made the announcement at a stop Wednesday at the Hiawatha City Hall.   On hand for the announcement were Senator Dennis Pyle, Representative Randy Garber and Hiawatha city officials. 

Hahn said the upgrades will enhance wireless coverage to residents and businesses in and near the communities of Hiawatha, Highland, Holton, Horton, Sabetha, Troy and Wathena.   He said with mobile internet speeds, AT&T customers can surf the Web, download files faster, and enjoy the very latest interactive mobile applications.

Senator Pyle says he greatly appreciate AT&T's investment in wireless Internet coverage in northeast Kansas, which will contribute to economic growth in this part of the state.

In November, AT&T announced plans to invest 14 billion nationwide over the next three years to significantly expand and enhance its wireless and wired IP broadband networks.

Since 2007, Hahn noted that AT&T has invested more capital in the U.S. economy than any other public company.
