( KMZA )-Three Seneca city employees will be taking on additional duties and responsibilities, effective January 1st.   Heidi Wolfgang reports

The Seneca City Council Wednesday evening approved the appointment of Police Chief Brent Schulte to the position of Code Enforcement officer and City Superintendent Brian Rusche to the position of Development Administrator.

In addition, the council also approved changing Anna Rusche’s title and job description from Assistant City Clerk to Administrate Assistant.   She will also continue to serve as Municipal Court Clerk.

All three will receive an additional $1.15 an hour for the additional duties and responsibilities.  They will begin training immediately for the extra duties.

The council said the action will allow the jobs to be covered by existing employees who are familiar with the city without having to hire a new employee to do the jobs.

In other business, the council voted to move forward with a project to build a shelter house at South Park located on Roanoke Street.

City Superintendent Brian Ruske was directed to collect bids from local businesses for the materials to build the shelter house.  He will bring the bids to the council for consideration at a future meeting.

City crews will provide the labor. Ruske estimated the cost to building the shelter house at $5,964.

And the Seneca City Council approved the appointment of Roxanne Holthaus to a vacancy on the city Planning Commission.
