Schmitt made her plan known during Monday's meeting of the Commission(Play Audio)
Commissioners worked to decide exactly which capacity of Schmitt's role they wished to replace, with Mayor Tim Lentz strongly praising Schmitt's knowledge and experience(Play Audio)
Ultimately, it was decided the Commission will advertise for the position of City Clerk, with Mayor Lentz to continue overseeing aspects of the City Administrator's position.
Schmitt will help oversee the hiring process, and then work to train her replacement.
While nothing is yet definite, Commissioners discussed the possibility of Schmitt retaining some of her duties in a part time capacity, which she did not object to.
Commissioners Monday also decided to make the Christmas season merrier for City of Horton employees, approving Christmas bonuses for the staff.
Discussion hinged on how to make that happen without using tax generated dollars to fund the additional monies.
In order to do so, the Commission decided to fund the bonus payments through monies generated by the City's electricity fund.
The Commission voted in favor of that move, approving Christmas bonuses of 300-dollars for full time employees and bonuses of 150-dollars for those who work part time.
