( KNZA )-A historic bridge in Doniphan County will be replaced.
Commissioners Monday accepted a proposal from Husker Steel to provide the materials and Norfolk Contracting the labor for the replacement of the bridge located on Monument Road at a total cost of nearly $80,000.
Chris Adelman with Husker Steel indicated the old historic structure will be removed in such a manner that it can be re-used.
Adelman also informed commissioners that Norfolk Contracting will be moving into Doniphan County later this week to begin work on the piers on the Wolf River bridge structure before moving onto construction of a new bridge on Diamond Springs Road. Once completed, he said the firm will begin construction of a bridge replacement project on 150th Road in the 1st District.
On the recommendation of the Doniphan County Planning Commission, the county commission approved a zoning change request on behalf of Aaron Gray from A-1 agriculture to A-1 conditional use for property located at 2274 175th Road near Wathena in order to operate a small vehicle lot.
