(KLZA) AAA is projecting 43.6 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home during the Thanksgiving holiday period, an increase of 7-tenths of a percent from last year.
This will mark the fourth consecutive year AAA has reported a growing number of holiday travelers. Between Wednesday and Sunday 39.1 million travelers will use automobiles to travel, 3.1 million are expected to travel by air which is a nearly 2-percent decrease. Another 1.3 million will use other modes of transportation including rail, bus and cruise ship.
For the holiday period, the national average price of gasoline is expected to range from $3.25 to $3.40 per gallon. Since early October fuel prices have declined nearly 40 cents a gallon.
