(KNZA)--A Kansas City man is convicted in a jury trial on federal charges of robbing financial institutions in both Topeka and Leavenworth.
U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom says 55-year-old Charles Shaw was convicted for three robberies, and one attempt, including the November 24th, 2010 robbery of the Main Street Credit Union at 1609 South 4th, in Leavenworth, where Shaw brandished a weapon, and the February 14th, 2011 robbery of the Citizens National Bank at 601 Delaware in Leavenworth.
Sentencing is set for February 19th, with over 50 years behind bars and hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines the possible penalties awaiting Shaw.
