(KNZA)--Car Seat Safety awareness is on the rise in Brown County.
That word comes through statistics related to child passenger restraint usage, with Sheriff John Merchant commended in his efforts, as his office is in the top tier of those agencies in Kansas providing car seats for families in need(Play Audio)
Merchant says he's working to increase overall seat belt usage in the county, taking the message to teenaged drivers, in an effort to keep them safe(Play Audio)
It was just recently, in keeping with his efforts to make certain families in need are supplied with car seats, that Merchant's office received assistance in making that happen, with the state providing the product(Play Audio)
Merchant reminds parents to follow the rules related to restraining young passengers, and says no one will be turned away if they are in need of financial support to gain a safety seat. However, in order to make certain the program is not abused, a 5-dollar fee is requested from the applicants.
