(KNZA)--Funeral arrangements are now set for the 18-year-old Hiawatha woman killed Monday when the pick-up she was in collided with a train.
Veronica Elaine Hogle, remembered for her outgoing personality, was in the process of earning her high school diploma through the School of Success.
A student of the Hiawatha schools, Hogle was active in her church, the Calvary Temple Assembly of God in Hiawatha, and had a love for young children.
The daughter of Lonnie Hogle and Melissa Russell Stonebarger, will be laid to rest during a private family inurnment, but will be remembered during a Celebration of Life Service planned for Saturday afternoon at 2:00 at her church.
Hogle died late Monday morning, along with well known Hiawatha resident Tee Turner, when the truck they were in, eastbound on 260th Road in rural Hiawatha, failed to yield at the railroad crossing just west of Kestrel road. The Kansas Highway Patrol says, because of that, the Ford F150 was struck by the northbound Union Pacific Train.
Apparently based on the circumstances of the crash, the patrol remains unable to say who was behind the wheel of the pick-up at the time of the collision, but the investigation is ongoing.
59-year-old Turner, like Hogle, was transported to Hiawatha's Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, where his services remain pending.
