The Auburn Girls’ Cross Country team placed 5th in the Class C State Cross Country meet, held Friday in Kearney.
Auburn totaled 102 points. Columbus Scotus was the team champion with 43 points, followed by Cozad, Boone Central-Newman Grove, and West Point-Beemer in the top four.
Auburn senior Catherine Davison finished a solid 7th, finishing the 4-kilometer course in 15:33.5.
Also for the Bulldogs, junior Melissa Davison was 29th, sophomore Lindsey Mertes 47th, and junior Emily Slama 61st in the individual standings.
Gabriella Gracia of Holdredge won the individual title in 14:48.2.
The Syracuse boys placed 9th, one point behind the 8th place team from Raymond Central. Milford was the team champion, and James McKeag of Ogallala was the individual winner. Syracuse junior Coleman Orchard placed 6th, with a 5-kilometer time of 17:17.3.
