(KAIR/KNZA)--A regional candidates forum, held on the campus of Atchison's Benedictine College, and broadcast live on radio stations KAIR 93.7 FM and KNZA FM, 103.9, brought hundreds to the college campus while untold numbers listened to the debate, both on the radio and online.
Among the heated races featured was that for 1st District Kansas Senate, as Republican incumbent Dennis Pyle met his Democratic challenger Steve Lukert in front of the live audience.

The two fielded other questions, at time heatedly rebutting one another on the answers.
Prior to that debate, the candidates for Atchison County Sheriff met on stage, followed by those seeking the 62nd and 63rd District Kansas House seats, with the debate concluding with the race for 2nd District Congress.
