( KNZA )-- The Hiawatha Foundation for Economic Development has successfully obtained nearly $100,000 in grant funds so far this year for three local projects.
HFED Director Don Nigus presented the organization’s quarterly report to the Hiawatha City Commission Monday evening...( play audio )
The grant funds are for the Brown County Healthy Foods initiative, the Hiawatha Community Hospital’s healthy living project, and the Hiawatha walking and biking trail project.
Nigus said HFED will soon be offering free lots in the Aztec East, Pleasant View Second Addition in the northern part of city for owner-occupied residential housing. He said eight lots will be available...( play audio )
Nigus said the HFED board recently voted to proceed with a community housing study and they will be approaching the commission to ask for the city’s participation in the process.
Nigus also presented the quarterly report to the Brown County Commission Monday.
