Lancaster Man Accepts Plea Agreement in Attempted Murder Case

( KNZA )-A Lancaster man charged in the brutal beating of a Horton woman in May has entered into a plea agreement.

Matthew Hermreck pleaded " no contest " Friday in Brown County District Court to amended charges of attempted second-degree murder and aggravated burglary.

Hermreck had originally been charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated endangerment of a child and aggravated burglary.

He had pleaded “ not guilty” last month to the charges and a jury trial in the case was set for next month.

The victim spent several weeks at the K-U Medical Center in Kansas City following the attack the night of May 2nd at her residence. The victim’s three-year-old daughter also suffered injuries during the incident and was treated at the Horton Community Hospital.

Hermreck remains in the Brown County Jail on one million dollars bond, awaiting sentencing set for December 7th.
