( KNZA )--A public health advisory has been lifted for the Brown County State Fishing Lake and Centralia Lake.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment says the advisory was lifted after this week’s water sampling no longer detected the presence of harmful blue-green algae.
The agency also says the public health warning that had been issued for the Hiawatha Lake has been downgraded to an advisory.
Direct contact with the water is strongly discouraged for people and pets. Fish taken from the lake should be cleaned and only the fillet portion consumed.
KDHE will continue to monitor the lake and will provide updates as conditions warrant.
