( KNZA )-- A two-vehicle accident near Watertown, South Dakota Friday morning claimed the life of a former Hiawatha resident.
Killed in the wreck was 25-year-old Stephanie Leanne May, a 2005 graduate of Hiawatha High School.
The Watertown Public Opinion reports May was traveling east on U.S. Highway 212 when her car swerved into the westbound lane and collided with a semi.
A passenger in May’s car, her three-year-old son, Corbin Owen May-Bryant, was treated for minor injuries at a hospital in Watertown and released.
The semi driver was not hurt.
May and her son were visiting friends when the accident occurred about nine miles west of Watertown.
The accident was investigated by the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
A celebration of life service for May will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center in Hiawatha.
