(KNZA)-- A head-on collision on U.S. 75 Highway in Jackson County Monday morning claimed the life of a Holton man.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 35-year-old Michael McCrory was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident near the Circleville turnoff.
The Patrol says McCrory was driving a van south when for an unknown reason he went left of center and stuck a northbound semi head-on.
The semi driver, 56-year-old Dan Rottman of Tecumseh, Nebraska, was taken to the Holton Community Hospital for treatment of injuries.
The Patrol says McCrory was not wearing a seat belt, but Rottman was.
The accident, which was reported shortly before 8:40 Monday morning, closed down a stretch of U.S. 75 for 5 hours.
