(KNZA)--Another round of golf cart discussion dominated Monday's meeting of the Horton City Commission, and whether or not the small vehicles should be allowed on city streets.
The Commission last month voted to not allow them, but sudden strong opposition to that move has them reassessing the issue.
During Monday's meeting, Horton business-owner Bryan Stirton addressed the commission, presenting them with a petition favoring golf cart use, containing 187 names.
A handful of the supporters were also in attendance.
Several of the supporters also requested that worksite utility vehicles, such as the Gator brand, be included with the golf cart ordinance. Treated differently by state ordinance than golf carts, based in part on speed, City Attorney Kevin Hill was directed by the commission to review the matter, and to incorporate such vehicles into the ordinance he's written pertaining to golf carts.
Following lengthy Commission discussion on the golf cart issue, which has been addressed at numerous recent meetings, it appears that, when the issue is reviewed next month, 4 out 5 Commissioners will vote yes to allowing them on the city streets.
