Jackson Co. Approves Proposed 2013 Budget for Publication
09/11/2012

( KNZA ) The Jackson County Commission has approved for publication a proposed 2013 budget of  nearly $13.3 million that calls for no change in the mill levy.

The commission was able to hold the mill levy at the same level due to an increase in the county’s assessed valuation and passage of a special retailers’ sales tax in August for road and bridge improvements.

Even through the mill levy will remain the same, at 71.048 mills, it will generate more tax revenue due to the increase in assessed valuation.  The mill levy is expected to raise nearly $6.7 million.

The commission will consider adoption of the budget following a public hearing on September 24th at 10 o’clock that morning..
