( KNZA )--A Lancaster man accused of brutally beating a Horton woman at her residence in May has pleaded not guilty to a charge of attempted first-degree murder.
Matthew Hermreck also pleaded not guilty today ( Monday ) in Brown County District Court to charges of aggravated endangerment of a child and aggravated burglary.
A jury trial was set for November 13th, and is expected to take 3-4 days.
Hermreck had previously appeared for arraignment August 13th, but requested a continuance in order to consider a plea agreement offered by the prosecution.
The victim was hospitalized at the K-U Medical Center in Kansas City following the incident the night of May 2nd.
The victim’s three-year-old daughter also suffered injuries in the attack and was treated at the Horton Community Hospital.
Hermreck remains in the Brown County Jail on one million dollars bond.
