Several Jeff Co. Roadways to be Closed for work on U.S. 24
( KNZA )--Beginning at 7 o’clock Tuesday morning ( August 28th ) several Jefferson County roadways adjacent to US-24 will be closed, 24/7 round the clock, to all traffic for grading and pavement work on Highway 24.
The Kansas Department of Transportation says they include Wilson, Decatur and Bridge Roads.
Marked detours will be provided. Traffic will be directed through the project work zone via signage and cones. Drivers should expect minor delays during peak travel times and must use alternate routes during the roadway closures.
This portion of the project work is scheduled to be completed and the roadways reopened to all traffic by early October 2012, weather permitting.
The work is part of the pavement reconstruction project on a 5.3-mile section of US-24 from just west of the Muddy Creek Bridge in Grantville to just east of the K-237 junction in Jefferson County.
The project includes removal and replacement of pavement, shoulder work, and the addition of a right turn lane at Clark Road.
The scheduled completion date for the overall pavement reconstruction project is early July 2013, weather permitting.
