Mound City Aldermen Approve Additions to Paving Project

(KTNC) - Mound City Aldermen approved a couple additions to the street paving project during a special meeting Tuesday afternoon. The change order includes adding more parking at City Hall.
The council accepted Keller Construction’s quote of $9,957 for a three-inch asphalt overlay on a new 333 square yard expansion of the City Hall parking lot, along with one-inch of asphalt on the entire parking lot, including the new space.
The parking lot was expanded to allow the entrance to the parking lot to be widened and to provide for additional parking.
The council also accepted a quote of $3,884 from Keller Construction for a four-inch asphalt overlay on the west drive at the new Equipment Building. The funds to pave the Equipment Building driveway will come from the Water Fund.
In other business, the council discussed a new roof at City Hall. After discussion, aldermen unanimously approved a motion to have Darby Grace draft specifications for a metal roof attached to the existing roof joists.
The council also approved Larry Russell’s request to remove old asphalt from the alley east of 203 East 5th Street and apply a layer of rock to the alley. Russell made the request, noting that the old asphalt at that location is in bad condition.
And Alderwoman Kristine Gibson told the council she would get a firm quote for the design of a new swimming pool bathhouse.
