Over the weekend this year's host team for the Class AA legion baseball tournament, Sabetha, wrapped up regular season action with a match up against Manhattan.
Manhattan was to much for Sabetha in the road matchup as Manhattan utilized seven hits and seven free passes to plate five runs in the second and four runs in the third to jump-start to a 14-4 victory over Sabetha Saturday in both teams' final tuneup before hosting their respective State Legion tournaments. Manhattan finished the game with 17 hits and 13 freebies in the nine-inning contest. Graham Droge & Tyler Edelman had two hits each and Benji Stoller hit a two-run double. Sabetha had 11 hits in the contest.
With the loss Sabetha fell to 33-12 on the season and now gears up for the state tournament action as the will host this year's tournament at Somerset Park. First round matchups start at 1:00pm on Wednesday at Somerset Park with Sabetha playing in the fourth an final game of the day taking on Iola (36-3). Game will follow the 6:30pm of Pratt vs. Baldwin. The earlier games are Hays TMP vs. Beloit at 1:00pm and Ellis vs. Silver Lake to follow.
