( KNZA )--Two Hoyt residents were injured in a motorcycle accident on U.S. 24 Highway in Douglas County early Sunday evening.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that 44-year-old Daniel Blazic was traveling west when he lost control of his 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle while attempting to pass a semi and crashed in the westbound lane.
Blazic and a passenger, 31-year-old Christina Reed, were ejected into the south ditch.
Blazic was transported to the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City and Reed was taken to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka.
The Patrol says neither was wearing a helmet.
The accident was reported shortly before 5:30 Sunday evening about two miles northwest of Lawrence.
