( KNZA )-Unemployment was up in most area northeast Kansas counties in June.
The Kansas Department of Labor released the June unemployment rates Friday.
Doniphan County was the only area county to see a drop in it’s jobless rate, falling from 6.4 percent in May to 5.9 percent in June.
Leavenworth County’s unemployment rate held steady at 7 percent.
Elsewhere, Atchison County’s jobless rate in June stood at 7.7 percent; Brown, 5.6 percent; Jackson, 7 percent; Jefferson, 6.9 percent; Nemaha, 3.7 percent; Marshall, 4.2 percent; and Pottawatomie, 5.8 percent.
All the rates were down from June of last year.
Statewide, the unemployment rate held steady at 6.1 percent in June.
