(KMZA)--With no county zoning regulations in place, it's a matter of wait and see on what move the Nemaha County, Kansas Commission may make regarding ongoing concerns pertaining to the future construction of wind turbines.
They are to be built as part of a proposed wind far in northeast Nemaha County, but a group of concerned residents continue to seek commission help pertaining to what they foresee as a noisy disruption to their way of life.
Among those residents is Kurt Detweiler(Play Audio)
The matter was most recently discussed in an open forum when the Commission met last week, with the 13 residents in attendance requesting setback requirements to make certain that noise does not become an issue.
Following that meeting, Detweiler says he, and the other concerned residents, can only hope for the best(Play Audio)
Commissioners have stated publicly that their firsthand visit to a wind farm did not prove to be a noisy experience.
However, based on the desires of the potentially affected residents, they plan to investigate what steps other counties have taken regarding wind turbine setback variances related to residences.
