Doniphan County Falls to Rock Creek in Tight Game

Doniphan County faced off with Rock Creek in a non-league showdown and found themselves down quickly after Rock Creek plated three unearned runs in the first behind a Hit batsman, walk, two hits and two Doniphan County errors. Rock Creek added one more in the 4th inning, while Doniphan County tried to muster a comeback but only tallied two runs in the game, falling 4-2 to Rock Creek. Cody Bennett came in relief for Dylan Gabriel after one inning, pitching the remaining 6 just giving up one run with six strikeouts.

It was a quiet overall night offensively with really only six hits between the two teams. Zach Halter had a double with RBI and Cody Bennett had the other RBI for Doniphan County in the loss.

Doniphan County is 10-16 on the season and will next be in action tonight against Atchison at home in a league double-header at 6:00 and 8:00pm. You can hear the 6:00pm game on 103.9 KNZA this evening.

Sabetha Notches Win Over Falls City Late with Double Steal

Despite not having an RBI nor scoring a run off an at bat, Sabetha defeated Falls City 4-3. After Falls City had tied the score at three in the top of the sixth off a Trevor Harling double, Sabetha executed a delayed double steal in the bottom of the frame for what proved to be the game winner. Sabetha's Brendon Garrett pitched the final 1.1 innings to get the win. Garrett fanned three of the four hitters he faced. Tate Steinlage started for Sabetha and went 5.2 innings allowing only five hits. Falls City's Logan Faller was equally effective allowing only five hits and only two earned runs.

Sabetha improves to 26-9 on the year and is next in action Friday against Auburn in a game that has been moved to Sommerset Park in Sabetha. First pitch is at 7:00.
