(KNZA)--Another scam is being reported locally, this one falsely using the name of the Hiawatha Chamber of Commerce and Rainbow Communications.
According to Chamber Administrator Stacy Babb, a man is attempting to sell phone book covers, improperly claiming that it's being done on the behalf of the two entities(Play Audio)
The man, attempting to sell the phone book covers, is identified as Ephran Price.
According to court records, he was convicted, in 2009, in Bates County, Missouri, for deceptive business practices.
According to the January 12th online edition of the Fort Scott Tribune, Price was nabbed for exactly what he's claiming to be selling in Hiawatha.
The article states that he sold 10-thousand-dollars worth of 350-dollar ads to be placed on phone book covers that didn't even exist.
Now, Price's sales attempts underway in the local area are under investigation, with the Hiawatha Police Department notified of the false representation in the attempt to sell the phone book covers.
