NEK League Legion Weekend Roundup --- July 7-8th

Weekend wrap up of all the Northeast Kansas League legion baseball action from July 7th and 8th. Some league matchups, to go along with some non-league games for a few teams, as well.

Saturday July 7th:

Seneca Gets Forfeit League Win

Seneca got a forfeit win over Holton, giving them another league win on the season.

Sabetha Splits Non-League Twinbill with Tecumseh

Sabetha and Tecumseh split a DH Saturday with Sabetha winning game one 18-1 and Tecumseh winning the second game 3-1.
 
In game one, Sabetha pounded out 20 hits and scored multiple runs in all five innings.  Seven different hitters recorded multi-hit games led by Thaine Allen's four hits.  Nolan Keim, Graham Droge & Kyle Stallbaumer added three hits each.  Allen & Stallbaumer scored four runs while Allen, Tayler Bauman & Graham Droge knocked in three runs.  Tate Steinlage added a double and solo homer.  Graham Howard pitched all five innings allowing an unearned run while striking out eight hitters to earn his third win of the season.
 
The second game was a pitchers dual between Kyle Stallbaumer and Doane-bound Zach Kaster.  Kaster allowed only one run and five hits and struck out 13 Sabetha hitters.  Stallbaumer matched Kaster with 11 K's and only four hits.  Stallbaumer allowed three runs with two being earned.  Graham Droge collected two hits including an RBI double in the first inning for Sabetha. 

Hiawatha and Marysville Split a Non-League Double-Header

Hiawatha split a non-league double-header with Marysville losing game one 10-2 and winning game two 19-8

Marysville took an early 3-0 lead, but Hiawatha who only had four total hits in the game battled back to within 1-run after trailing 3-2 after three innings, after scoring one-run in each of the second and third innings. Then the offense would break out for Marysville has the plated 7 of the 10 runs on the game in the fourth and didn't look back after that, winning the game by eight-run rule in five innings, 10-2. Tyler King, Quentin Overdick, Dakota Bayles and Jeff Costa tallied the four Hiawatha hits; Marysville finished the game with 10 total hits.

In game two it Hiawatha's bats that were offensively potent as they pounded out 15 hits producing 19 runs to double up Marysville 19-8 in the game, ending it after four innings. Hiawatha scored every inning with 4 runs in the first and fourth innings, one in the third and the most productive inning being the second which was a 10-run inning for the Indians. Eight of the 10 Hiawatha batters tallied at least one hit, while every player either scored a run or had an RBI for Hiawatha in the win. Parker Hasenkamp went 3-4 with a double, 3 RS and 3 RBI. Tyler Jacobsen also tallied 3 RS & 3 RBI off a 2-3 night with a walk.

Sunday July 8th:

Doniphan County and Royal Valley Split a League Double-Header

Royal Valley dictated game one with stellar pitching as Woechlecke pitched a one-hit shutout, recording 14 strikeouts. Offensively Royal Valley got on the board early with an unearned in the first inning and then scored two more runs in the fifth, to win it 3-0. Colton Masters notched the only Doniphan County hit in the game.

Game two, Doniphan County answered with a 9-4 win to earn the split in the double-header. Doniphan Counties offense was lead by Sawyer Adkins, Derek Nold, Cody Bennett who each tallied two hits in the game. Jordan Thornberry pitched the final four innings of the game giving up three runs on two hits.

Atchison Gets Two League Wins Via Forfeit From Frankfort

Atchison and Frankfort were slated for a league double-header on Sunday but Frankfort had to forfeit the matchups giving Atchison two more league wins.
