Doniphan County Falls to Falls City in a Rough Non-League Game

After sweeping the league leaders in Sabetha this past weekend, Doniphan County meet up with Falls City last night in a non-league showdown on the diamond.

Doniphan Counties success against Sabetha, unfortunately didn't translate to the field against Falls City as Falls City capitalized early on some Doniphan County mistakes. Seven runs came across the plate for Falls City in the second inning off of four Doniphan County errors, four walks and two hits. Falls City would go on to score nine more runs to run away with the game 16-8.

Falls City behind two hits from Dunn and Darling and eight Doniphan County errors, seven walks and one hit batsman, scored all 16 of their runs. Doniphan County did manage to plate eight runs themselves, but had to many mistakes to comeback from.

Jordan Thornberry finished the game with a hit and three RBI;  Cody Bennett had two hits and Zach Halter belted a home-run in the loss.

Doniphan County is now 7-14 on the season (6-6 league) and will next play Friday, July 6th at Hiawatha in a double-header 6:00 and 8:00pm.
