There will be lots of activities to help celebrate the 4th of July around the listening area. Activities include:
Humboldt: Fire truck rides begin at 3 p-m; kids games begin at 5 p-m. The air conditioned Ag-Building will host the pork barbecue, music by the “Happy Czecks’ and an ice cream social all getting underway at 5 p-m.
The Bohemian Tractor Pull will take place at 7 p-m north of the ball field. There will be drawings for prizes and the largest fireworks display in Southeast Nebraska hosted by the Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department and sponsored by the Humboldt Chamber of Commerce.
Auburn: Events begin at 7 a-m with the Nemaha County Veterans Pancake Feed at the Nemaha County 4-H Building. Breakfast will be served until 10:30 a-m.
At 8 p-m there is an ice cream social sponsored by the 1st United Methodist Church in Auburn. The ice cream social will be held at Auburn High School.
The Fireworks display sponsored by the Auburn Eagles Club and Auburn Volunteer Fire Department will begin at 10 p-m.
Brownville: 7 a-m half marathon, 5K and 10K race from Brownville to Nemaha along the River Road;
8 a-m breakfast at town hall; 9 a-m; dog show; 10 a-m Parade from 6th to 1st Street on Main Street; 11 a-m Patriotic Program at Boettner Park; noon Lunch hosted by Brownville Volunteer Fire Department; 12:15 children’s tractor pull; 1 p-m free trolley rides; 2 p-m concert by Southeast Community Band; and free horse and buggy rides; 4 p-m Nebraska Humanities Council living history presentation at the Town Hall on Teddy Roosevelt; 4:30 p-m kids games; at dusk, fireworks on the Missouri River sponsored by the Friends of Brownville and Hales Fireworks of Rock Port.
Tecumseh: The Johnson County Avenue of Flags Veterans Memorial will be displayed in the Johnson County Courthouse yard in Tecumseh on the 4th. More than 500 flags will be on display.
The City of Tecumseh will sponsor a fireworks display at dusk at the Johnson County Fairgrounds.
Mound City: 8 a-m Red Rock Fun Run; the David Duncan Memorial Golf Tournament also begins at 8 a-m with another set of tee times at 1 p-m.
10 a-m The 4th of July Parade with the theme “Let Freedom Rock” will take place on Main Street.
11:30 a-m Lions Club barbecue chicken dinner; 1 p-m community band concert at Griffith Park; 1 p-m - Kid’s Pedal Tractor Pull at Griffith Park; 2 p-m Pet Show on Griffith Park Stage; 2:30 p-m Curtis Stroud concert; 3 p-m a penny toss will be held at the Mound City swimming pool; 4:30 p-m there will be a ping pong ball drop at the football field. Tehre will be hometown entertainment at 6:30 p-m and at dusk the Fourth Blast Fireworks Display will be held at the Mound City Golf Course.
Bern: 8 a-m 5K Run / Walk at the City Park; 6 – 9 p-m inflatable games;
6:30 p-m barbecue dinner; 7 p-m talent show; Fireworks display at dusk.
