Falls City won the championship game of the Southeastern Nebraska Baseball Conference Senior Legion Tournament Saturday evening.
Falls City scored four runs in the first inning and went on to shut out Syracuse, 10-0 in five innings.
Josh Stoller was the winning pitcher, giving up four hits in five innings. He worked out of a jam in the top of the third inning, after Syracuse loaded the bases with no outs. But Stoller struck out two of the next three batters and got one to pop out to second. Falls City then scored four runs in the bottom of the third to take a 9-0 lead and put the game out of reach.
Stoller and Tyler DiGiacomo led the Falls City offense with two hits each, while Stoller, Wade Witt, and Chaz Dunn all drove in two runs. The top seven batters in Falls City’s line-up all drove in at least one run.
The Legion Baseball season continues today (Monday) as Falls City travels to Holton, Kansas.
