The Mound City School Board learned last week that the school district is the only small school district in the state to be awarded the What Parents Want Award this year. Missouri Commissioner of Education Chris Nicastro sent a letter to Superintendent Ken Eaton notifying the district of the honor. ( play audio :19 seconds )
The Mound City School Board also was informed that reading scores have improved for the young students in the Mound City School District. ( play audio :19 seconds )
In other action the Board approved beginning the 2012-13 school year budget the same as the last year. Changes will be made in August when state numbers are available for the administration to work with.
Superintendent Eaton also informed Board members that the school district received a $500 donation from their insurance carrier Blue Cross / Blue Shield. The donation was put toward the new weight room project at the school.
Letitia Oswald met with the Board to express her concerns about the portions of the school lunch program being too small.
Superintendent Eaton also notes the Mound City Board approved using the WAIT Training curriculum for the Family and Consumer Sciences program. ( play audio :15 seconds )
