A 23-year-old Manhattan woman is in custody in Jackson County, following her arrest in connection with an investigation into an alleged forgery and burglary ring.
Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse says Catrien Ann Van Petten was allegedly involved with a June 9th burglary to a vehicle in Mayetta, when checks were stolen from the vehicle. A number of those checks have since been passed in the Holton and Topeka areas.
Additional car burglaries were also reported June 13th in the Mayetta and Hoyt areas, and the investigation led to Van Petten.
Morse say she was located in Topeka Thursday and taken to the Jackson County Jail. Bond is not yet set.
Van Petten now faces charges of 3 counts of burglary, 5 counts of forgery, 6 counts of identity theft, and 6 counts of theft.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Department has identified additional suspects in the case, and more arrests are expected in the near future.
