Doniphan County has been ordered to cleanup in it’s 2nd District county shop property in Troy. Troy Police Chief Elmer " Speedy" Stewart Monday served the county commission with a notice of violation and order to cleanup the property located at 302 West Robertson Street within 10 days. The property contains scrap metal, miscellaneous vehicle parts, metal tubing and other junk. Stewart said although the county is not responsible for putting the scrap metal and other debris on the property, as the property owner they are responsible for cleanup. Commissioners directed County Attorney Charles Baskins to talk with the 2nd District road foreman about addressing the necessary cleanup. In addition, Baskins will file action in Doniphan County District Court to abate the public nuisance and charge the person or persons responsible for depositing the scrap metal and other debris on the county property. In other business, the commission approved a resolution to sell the Blair shop building located at 1892 190th Road at public auction. The auction will be held June 15th at 1 p.m. at the north door of the Doniphan County Courthouse.
