Surprise honors for a longtime coach, teacher and principal during the Troy High School Graduation Ceremonies Sunday.
Superintendent Sue King says recognition was given to Don Cash, including the announcement that the football field is being renamed, and dedicated, in his honor(Play Audio)
Cash stepped down as head coach following the 2004 football season, ending his career with a 117 winning game record.
Following his years as high school principal, Cash now also ends that role, leaving the school district following his earlier decision to resign for the purpose of retirement.
A dedication ceremony, for the football field, is being planned for the upcoming fall football season, and will happen at a not yet determined home game.
That will allow past players, family and community members to take part in the ceremony.
