The Hiawatha Board of Education has approved the purchase of sixty-two new computers for the high school and middle school.
The board Monday evening accepted the state bid for $55,091.
Forty-one of the new computers will be placed in the high school business labs, ten in the high school drafting lab, seven in the middle school library and four in the middle school art department.
In other business, the board approved the purchase of new textbooks for next school year for various classes at a cost of just over $83,000.
The board approved fees for next school year. Lunch prices will increase 5 cents. Fees for applied tech and art classes at the middle school will each increase one dollar, while the fee for the drafting course at the high school will decrease five dollars. There will be no other fee changes.
And the USD 415 board approved two units of the Parents as Teachers Program for next school year, the same as this school year, at a total cost of $8,300. Each unit serves 7 to 9 families.
