The Brown County Commission has taken action to permanently close a bridge.
The commission voted Monday to officially close a bridge on 210th Street between Falcon and Foxtail Roads.
A bridge in the city of Robinson will also be closed. Commissioner Keith Olsen reported that the Robinson City Council voted last week to close a bridge in their community on the recommendation of engineer Tom Bennett with BG Consultants.
Olsen said the bridge will be removed in August.
Bennett reported the county’s bridge inspection, which is conducted every two years, was finished. Brown County has a total of 214 bridges, with 66 bridges in District 1, 62 in District 2 and 86 bridges in District 3.
The total cost of the bridge inspection was nearly $30,000.
Bennett discussed the possible closing of a double railroad crossing at the intersection of 250th and Kingfisher Roads.
Commissioner Steve Roberts says he believes the crossing should be closed for safety reasons. Bennett, who viewed the crossing, said he agreed it’s a legitimate safety concern.
And Commissioner Warren Ploeger reported that new District 3 road crewman, Rodney Allen, will begin work on Monday, May 21st.
