A Lansing Correctional Facility inmate that escaped three weeks ago is back in custody.
59-year-old Gary Leslie Furthmyer was taken into custody around 2:00 Wednesday afternoon in Kansas City, Kansas.
He was taken to the Wyandotte County jail where he was positively identified, and returned to Lansing later in the afternoon.
His apprehension happened exactly three weeks to the day that he fled from his minimum security job assignment at the Correctional Facility's steam plant.
Furthmyer's escape was confirmed around 3:00 on the morning of April 18th.
He's serving a six to 25 year sentence in Lansing for a 1985 conviction in Sedgwick County for Indecent Liberties with a Child and Aggravated Failure to Appear.
