The Richardson County Extension Office hosted an open house Wednesday to honor volunteers who have helped with the Extension and 4H programs in the county.
Extension Educator Lindsay Chichester says there are approximately 200 volunteers who help make 4H and extension programs possible.
Chichester says they have started a foundation to help support young people. (play audio :17)
The fundraiser is the “I Heart Beef” campaign. Anyone who makes a donation to the Richardson County 4H and Extension Foundation will be entered in a drawing to win one of seven certificates for free beef. The certificates can be redeemed at Den’s Country Meats in Table Rock, or JP’s Butcher Block in Rulo, with the drawing to be held Friday, May 11th.
Chichester explains what the foundation will do. (play audio :14)
While the 4H program provides activities for youth, Extension offers programs for adults. One activity coming up in early May focuses on container gardening. (play audio :23)
