The Prairie Hills USD 113 Board of Education has approved a resolution of intent to non-renew the contracts of eight certified staff members for next school year.
The board took the action following a closed door session at a special meeting Monday.
They include two certified staff members at Sabetha—High School English teacher Angelia Steiner and Elementary School Title I building coordinator Brenda Meyer.
Bern High School vo-ag teacher Trent Platt was given a notice of the intent to non-renew his contract.
Two teachers at Summerfield Elementary School were given notices of the intent to non-renew their contracts —music teacher Madalyn Vieselmeyer and third/fourth grade teacher Sonja Stoll.
In addition, three teachers at the Wetmore Attendance Center were given notice of the intent to non-renew their contracts. They included science teacher Jesse Hutfles, music teacher Phillip Vinson and IDL U.S. government teacher Matt Callison.
The board approved a list of renewals of other certified staff contracts for all buildings.
The board will take final action on contracts at their May board meeting.
In other business, the board accepted the resignations of Sabetha High School social science teacher Jason Brown and Wetmore Attendance Center instructional support teacher Rachel Bloom.
The board adopted changes in the Title I program, which includes the hiring of three administrative coaching positions. The district will advertise for a reading coach, math coach and MTSS coach.
The three coaching positions will be paid through federal grant money.
