Humboldt Area Bridge Collapses
04/11/2012

A bridge over Long Branch Creek near Humboldt collapsed Tuesday afternoon about 3:15 p-m when an oversized load went across the bridge.
Noah Dively of Hiawatha was operating a tractor, pulling an anhydrous applicator and two full anhydrous tanks across the bridge on 715 Road between 631 Boulevard and 632 Boulevard.  The equipment was owned by Ag Partners of Hiawatha, which has a location in Humboldt.
According to Sheriff Randy Houser Dively pulled the equipment estimated to weigh 20 – 25 tons across the bridge that was rated at three tons. The tractor, applicator and two anhydrous tanks went down approximately 20 feet into Long Branch Creek.  There were no leaks from the anhydrous tanks.  Dively was transported to the Community Medical Center in Falls City to be checked for possible injuries.
According to the Sheriff’s Department Ag Partners were able to use their own equipment to retrieve the equipment out of the Creek.
