A former Elwood police officer facing sex and eavesdropping charges will have his next day in court in May. The preliminary hearing for former Sgt. Brian Vincent was continued Tuesday in Doniphan County Court until May 17th. Vincent has been charged with two felony counts of sexual exploitation of a child and two misdemeanor counts of eavesdropping by unlawful use of a camera phone. According to court documents, the alleged offenses occurred between November 2007 and July 2010. He was arrested March 30th following an investigation by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. Vincent was fired by the Elwood Police Department in June of last year after serving more than 10 years with the department. He also worked part-time for the Wathena Police Department at the time. Nemaha County Attorney Brad Lippert is serving as special prosecutor in the case. Vincent remains in the Doniphan County Jail on $100,000 bond.
