Trial Date Set For Former Beatrice Facility Employees
BEATRICE, Neb. (AP) _ Trial dates have been scheduled for three
men accused of physically and verbally abusing residents when the
three worked at the Beatrice center for developmentally disabled
people.
The Beatrice Daily Sun reports that
Judge Paul Korslund scheduled a trial date of July 9 for Matthew
Johnson, Matthew Pangborn and Cameron Barnes. All three have
pleaded not guilty.
Korslund says he set the trials for the same date because some
of the cases could be settled by then or some could be
consolidated.
Two other defendants, Cody Creek and Carmen Yates, also have
pleaded not guilty.
The five were charged after an investigation found residents at
the center between May 15 and Aug. 10 last year were beat, pushed,
pinched and choked, often until they fell unconscious.
