Leavenworth Woman Pleads No Contest to Medicaid Fraud
A Leavenworth woman has pleaded no contest to making false claims to the Kansas Medicaid program.
Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt say 39-year-old Yolanda Carter enter the plea today ( Friday ) in Leavenworth County District Court.
District Judge Gunnar Sundby accepted the plea, and then found her guilty.
Sentencing was set for May 11th.
Carter was recently extradited from Texas.
Schmidt says Carter submitted timesheets indicating she had provided Personal Care Attendant services to her sister when her sister was actually in the hospital or long-term care facilities.
As part of the plea, she must pay more than 17-hundred restitution to the Kansas Medicaid Program.
Assistant Attorney General Amanda Voth from Schmidt’s office prosecuted the case.
