Libraries at three area schools are winners of 2012 Kansas Book Festival Grants.
Kansas First Lady Mary Brownback announced today ( Tuesday ) that 16 libraries across the state will receive a portion of the $13,000 in grants—including the libraries at Atchison High School, Holton Central Elementary School, and B & B Junior/Senior High School in Baileyville.
According to the governor’s office, the library at Holton Central Elementary School will receive 21-hundred dollars to purchase ten IPod touch devices and audiobooks. The library at Atchison High School will receive 12-hundred dollars to purchase ten Kindles and audio books and the library at the B & B Jr/Sr High School will receive $500 to purchase books.
First Lady Brownback said the grants are designed to further the Kansas Book Festival’s goals of promoting literacy and encouraging a life-long love of reading.
Money raised through last year’s Kansas Book Festival and corporate sponsors provided the funding for the grants.
The 2012 Kansas Book Festival will be held September 15th at the Kansas Museum of History in Topeka.
