Doniphan Commission Scales Back Heating & Cooling Project
The Doniphan County Commission has decided not to proceed with replacing the entire heating and cooling system in the courthouse.
Commissioner Jerry McKernan Monday voiced concerns with the high cost of the project and said he was not for proceeding with replacing the entire system if the county wasn’t going to receive a 20 to 30 percent savings in energy costs.
Commissioner Wayne Grable agreed, saying the county wasn’t currently in a financial situation to complete the entire project and should go with the original plan to install central units in eight rooms. The central units would replace the window units that were being used prior to the installation of the new windows in the courthouse.
It was the consensus of the commission to seek bids for the placement of central air units in eight offices located in the courthouse.
