Peru State College senior Will Scott’s dominating week earned him accolades as the Heart of America Athletic Conference’s Pitcher of the Week, in honors announced Monday.
Scott was overpowering in his one start, tossing seven scoreless innings and allowing just one hit and one walk, while tying a career high with 11 strikeouts, in an 11-0 Bobcat win over Mayville State.
Scott improved his season record to 3-1, with a 2.52 ERA and a team-leading 27 strikeouts in 25 innings. The 27 strikeouts places Scott fifth among conference pitchers.
Scott is presently 6th in the league in strikeouts per game, and his 2.52 ERA ranks 7th among conference pitchers. He’s held opposing hitters to a paltry .216 batting average early this season.
Peru State is presently 12-4 on the season. The Bobcats’ 12-game winning streak was snapped Saturday with a pair of losses at Ottawa University. The ‘Cats open the home portion of their schedule Tuesday, hosting Nebraska Wesleyan University.
MidAmerica Nazarene outfielder Ben Alison was named the HAAC player-of-the-week.
